    Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fellowship: 2027–28 Application Portal

    Thank you for your interest in the Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fellowship, a highly competitive national award supporting graduate students who demonstrate exceptional academic promise and financial need. Columbia may nominate up to two students per school, so please review all requirements carefully.

    Applicants must intend to enroll and be eligible to register for the Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 semesters.

    Application Deadline

    Monday, January 4, 2027, at 5:00 p.m. EST

    All materials must be submitted by the deadline. Late or incomplete applications cannot be reviewed.

    Eligibility Overview

    Applicants must:

    • Be U.S. citizens.
    • Demonstrate financial need.
    • Meet all program criteria as outlined by the Liebmann Foundation.

    Required Materials

    Please upload the following:

    1. Completed and signed Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fellowship Application (download here)
    2. Current résumé or CV
    3. Certified copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts (to date)
    4. Graduate exam scores (if applicable)
    5. Statement of Purpose: Must include a 10-15 line abstract at the top as part of the three pages. Abstract must explain, in LAYMAN’S terms, the essence of your proposed topic of study or dissertation, the methodology of its treatment and its anticipated impact on your field of study. Statement must consider the relationship between graduate level study and intended personal and /or professional goals.
    6. Two academic Letters of Recommendation (from professors who have taught or supervised you)
    7. Optional: Letter of Recommendation from your Dean or Department Chair
    8. Copy of your FAFSA (Student Aid Report)
    9. Financial aid information from Columbia or other relevant source
    10. Federal Income Tax Return forms for the past two years
    • If married, include your spouse’s tax returns.
    • Submit only the main tax return form; do not include schedules.
